In 2021 Cathy O’ Sullivan was diagnosed with breast cancer. During that time, she wrote a book of poetry called ‘Through Your Doors Again’.
In this book she outlines her journey through treatment in diary form. Cathy found her strong self through writing poetry during her illness. The sea helped her to find calm at that time. Her love of the sea is threaded through some of her poems.
She has raised over 14,000 euro for Cork ARC Cancer Support House since the book launch in 2022. Her book inspires others going through cancer treatment and it helps family members to understand what going through cancer looks like.
