Life After Cancer – Support for cancer survivors
For many people, it can be difficult to adjust to the ‘new normal’ after cancer. At Cork ARC Cancer Support House, we are here to support you in any way we can to help you adapt to life after cancer.
Our Cancer Survive and Thrive program offers you a chance to learn self-management skills when moving on from your cancer treatment.
Together with trained health professionals and fellow cancer
survivors, the programme will help you with issues commonly faced by cancer survivors including learning to cope with emotions, feelings and change and managing stress.
The Cancer Thriving and Surviving Programme helps cancer survivors with the transition to life after cancer. Through the
workshops, we can help you build your confidence in your ability to look after your health and live a happy, fulfilling life.
Our relaxation and meditation sessions are open to cancer patients and family.
Join our Meditation and Relaxation class and learn techniques and skills to help you cope with stress, anxiety when you are dealing with cancer.
The minute I walked in the door of Cork ARC, I felt a peace come over me. The house gave me a place where I could feel supported and safe.
I walked a lot and was very fond of exercise, but I had never been to the gym. Being with other guys at the ‘Get Active’ programme really turned my life around. It’s like a new beginning.
You could be sitting at home, saying you don’t want to do it, but the confidence Cork ARC gives you rubs off and you just end up doing it with the group.
I could never draw or paint, yet Art Therapy allowed me to express more than I ever could have in words. I loved the freedom to play with the art materials.
The minute I walked through the door I knew I had done the right thing, I felt myself relax.
It helped to know that my grief is normal and that other people experience similar feelings.
