A Guide to regaining your confidence after breast cancer treatment
October 8 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Have you recently completed your breast cancer treatment and are you wondering about the next steps?
Often we hear from patients that it can be a confusing time when they complete their cancer treatments and instead of the expected elation and relief, they can feel uncertain, isolated and unsure of how to go back to living their lives. Once diagnosed your days get very busy managing treatments and appointments while still juggling everyday life and there’s usually little time to process what is happening. Once treatments are completed there is an expectation that ‘it’ is over however the recovery or restoration phase is just beginning. It can feel a more lonely stage as contact with your medical carers lessens and you begin to adapt to changes in your body and manage thoughts about the future. Challenges can include significant fatigue, body image issues, fear of cancer returning, managing expectations of when to return to work and managing life as before while also beginning to realise that the experience has changed you just like any other significant challenge in life .
If you would like to hear more and learn about what may help you during this time please register for our online session Friday October 8th 10am – 12pm
Hosted by our Breast Cancer Nurse Counsellor Fiona Moriarty and co-facilitated by Marie O Mahony, Cork ARC Psychotherapist, there will be an opportunity to meet others at a similar stage and share questions and experiences as well as hear about what may help you get back to living your life fully.
